César 2017: The nominees are…

Isabelle Huppert is having an awesome week. A day after her Oscar nomination, the Golden Globe winner French actress has just earned a César nomination for Elle. The powerful film has been having a grand time since its official presentation in Cannes, and could make history for both French cinema and Paul Verhoeven. Alongside her in the Best actress category, we find the very gifted and popular Marion Cotillard for From the Land of the Moon, Westworld’s Sidse Babett Knudsen for La Fille de Brest, the mesmerizing Soko for The Dancer and Virginie Efira for Victoria.

The gentlemen list also counts a lot of household names: Pierre Niney for FrantzGaspard Ulliel for Just the End of the World —the two actors find themselves in the same category, two years after their respective depictions of the late Yves Saint Laurent—, Omar Sy for ChocolatPierre Deladonchamps for A Kid and Fabrice Luchini  for Slack Bay.


Without surprise, famous offspring of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny DeppLily-Rose Depp, is listed among the rising stars. It’s a huge surprise, however, to see Divines landing nods in interesting categories.
